WARNING: This article is not about “How to make $100 K Writing Articles in 10 Minutes or less!” Now I know there are many entrepreneurs out there who claim that for only $29.95 they will teach you how to become rich in ten days by writing easy articles. I know, because I have tried a few of these systems out for myself. In all honesty I didn’t even make back my $29.95.
As I said, I do VERY FEW Senior executive resumes. I have done them, but that is on a case by case basis. I often turn down work because it is not in my realm of knowledge. No resume writer can know everything about every career! A resume scammer will tell you they DO. For the record, I also do not do resumes for attorneys, actors, federal resumes or resumes for physicians. You can be in sales, IT, construction, education, management, or any number of other fields and I am more than happy to assist you. I know my limitations. Every resume writer SHOULD.
The preface is a discussion about how the book came about. It is a place for the book’s author to tell the reader how this book came into being, and why. It will build credibility for the author and the book. More credibility will translate into more book sales. Here the author should explain why they wrote the book, and how they came to writing it. The author should be showing the reader why they are worth reading and buying.
Overusing tired, cliche type elements. For example, your book is about friendships and building influential relationships. Don’t use the handshake or the smile emoticon. Stay within the basic design rules but think outside the box. Don’t be in such a rush; wait for that magical concept. Be creative; keep looking and noticing good design. Practice using the good elements that please you; pretty soon the concept will come.
More than ever before, people want to be perceived as expert s. They understand that there is a willing audience for their work, and all they have to do is package and sell that information to as wide a market as possible. But there’s a lot more to being an paper writing service than just calling yourself one.
One of my favorite methods of marketing my books is to create joint ventures with other authors who have the same target audience. I usually contact the authors I find on Amazon and Selfgrowth and ask if they would be interested in setting up a teleseminar or webinar and cross promote each other’s books. I have them send out a notice to their database to invite their followers to a free session and half way through we change it up from being the interviewer to the interviewee. When I edit the audio program I’ll cut out their interview and post my section on my site as a free download. People love free material, so it is a very effective method of getting fans to return to your site regularly.
Here’s the point. Article writing will only help if you practice what was written in the book. For example, if you read a book about promoting your business, article writing will help you to in fact advertise your business. If you are reading a book about home decoration, content writing a book review will help you get rid of the piles accumulated in your own home.
Consider this,when was the last time someone asked you a question and you immediately turned to a separate group of people and answered it? Don’t try that in public or someone might call for a CPL 730 exam on you.
REALITY TWO: Writing can be lonely. Most days it’s you and the page, or you and the computer screen, or if you’ve got writer’s block it’s just you. Things can get pretty silent – which many writers enjoy. But what if you don’t? If you’re not the kind of person who works well alone, or has a hard time self motivating it’s going to be tough. This is particularly true in the beginning stages before you get a publisher or a production. How do you move yourself and your work forward?
You may have noticed in each one of the above examples of the same market, the contents of the book would probably be the same! The books would contain the same basic ideas, suggestions, tips, etc. For example, all the books about diets would probably stress the importance of eating right, choosing the right foods in right portions and daily exercise. Yet, each book presents a different viewpoint targeting a different market.
Some people won’t consider you a true writer unless you’ve been paid for your work. It might not be fair, but, for the most part, it’s true. If your goal is to be perceived by society as a professional writer or author, you need to sell some work. And don’t worry, you don’t have to publish the next Great American Novel in order to accomplish this. If you’re making money from your blog or selling articles or sales letters to businesses, you, my friend, are a writer.
